History of Colloidal Silver - Silver Sol

Since the dawn of man, many civilizations have recognized the properties of silver in preventing diseases. For instance, the Romans used silver nitrate therapeutically, and the hermetic and alchemical writings of Paracelsus speak of the virtues of silver as a healing substance, continuing to be used in the middle ages on the wounds from battles. During the plaques of Europe wealthy families gave their children silver spoons to suck on, hence the saying born with a silver spoon in his mouth. Certain royalty were given the nickname Blue bloods because of their blue  skinned appearance. Exposed early to high levels of silver consumption such as silver plates, goblets, and utensils for daily dinning lead to the condition argryia. Silver coins were placed in drinking water and milk was store in silver pails in order to prevent spoilage.

In the 1800s, several physicians discovered the antibacterial (antigerm) qualities of silver and applied them to their practice of medicine. They used silver nitrate successfully in the treatment of skin ulcers, compound fractures and suppurating (draining puss) wounds. In 1881, Carl Crede pioneered the installation of dilute silver nitrate in the eye of neonates to prevent gonorrheal ophthalmia, a technique which has been in widespread use ever since. Von Naegeli and others in 1893 realized that the antibacterial effects of silver were primarily due to the silver ion. He coined the term oligodynamic to mean that a small amount of silver is released from the metallic surface when placed in contact with liquids.

In 1924, the first electro-colloidal silver was produced. , at the time it was very high tech (. It seemed that colloidal silver breakthroughs and new technology were just around the corner. Scientists were doing research on the lymphatic fluids taking note they are colloidal in nature creating new possibilities for colloidal silver medicine. A stumbling block however was that the method of creating a colloidal silver consisted of grinding up silver into a powder and placing it in water. This proved to be problematic as the particles would fall to the bottom. A solution was devised to use protein stabilizers to slow the fall of the particles this created a new problem as the chemicals from the protein were removed they left a toxic residue. Even still colloidal silver was still in widespread use and in 1938 was known to kill over 650 infectious diseases. Pharmaceutical companies then replaced the heirloom silver for widespread use of modern medicine antibiotics. This led to a severe halt and funding for colloidal silver research. These profit based corporations realized to protect their monopoly they needed to suppress and hide the benefits of silver.  At the turn of the century, Dr. William Halstead, one of the founding fathers of modern surgery, advocated the use of silver foil dressings for wounds. These dressings were used extensively until just after World War II, and were listed in the Physician's Desk Reference until 1955, when the use of antibiotics became widespread.

What then proceeded were the dark ages of "modern" health. It became evident during the 1980's that a bacterial resistance was being formed for the synthetic antibiotics produced by the pharmaceutical companies.  The first reported cases of community-acquired MRSA began to appear in the mid-1990s from Australia, New Zealand, the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Finland, Canada, and Samoa.

A December 1996 Readers Digest article  , "Warning: Antibiotics Could Endanger Your Child", it is stated that "Antibiotic resistance appeared soon after the introduction of these synthetic drugs in the 1930s. Since then, more and more bacteria have become resistant to more and more antibiotics." The article continues: "Last January, researchers at the Georgetown University School of Medicines Department of Pediatrics monitored 20 children taking amoxicillin daily to prevent ear infections. (Note: Dr. Fallon) The study indicated that while their risk of infection from a resistant germ was 20% before using the antibiotic, after a five-month regimen, they stood a 100% chance of contracting a super bug, a fivefold increase in risk. Four months after those children were taken off amoxicillin, their risk level returned to its original point."

The effectiveness of antibiotics is rapidly decreasing. The CDC in Atlanta said that over 70,000 people died in American hospitals in 2000 from infectious conditions that resisted conventional drugs. The medical community has know this for many years!

American Biotech Labs (ABL) was founded in 1998 under the name American Silver LLC.  Since that time, the company has changed its name to American Biotech Labs to clearly establish its identity as a bio-medical technology company.  Although the concept of using silver is not a new idea, the founders spent years before ABL was incorporated, refining the process to create a far more effective agent that promotes health and well being. The end result was Silver Sol technology.

Since 1998 to current date ABL has been extensively testing and researching at the top facilities in the world, this has lead to an unprecedented breakthrough in silver technology.
